The Bollart® – edition Nedda El-Asmar

Nedda El-Asmar (B, 1968) is internationally regarded as one of the most important Belgian designers of this time. She has created designs for numerous renowned houses (Hermès – Paris, Puiforcat – Paris, Robbe & Berking – Flensburg, Villeroy & Boch – Mettlach, Carl Mertens – Solingen, Gense – Eskilstuna…) and has received many important national and international awards.

With her creation of the Antwerp Bollart®, Nedda accentuates the authentic caressing factor of the bollard. After all: each Antwerp Bollart carries a history about the pleasures of life. Who kissed who on which Bollart? Who was waiting for someone’s safe return? Who was listening there to the buzz of an active society?
Nedda makes these traces visible by applying heat-sensitive paint which shows even the slightest touch when the temperature is agreeable, temporarily yet clear, and emotion is added to the memory of the Bollart® once again.
